Manjolai Hills is one of the enchanting hills in tamilnadu. Manjolai Hills is concealed profound in the radiant Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve in the Western Ghats. The hills rose to a height of 1000 to 1500 feet above sea level . Most of the hills are wrapped by tea plants. Majolai Hills is landed over Manimuthar Dam and Manimuthar Water fall, which is a 70 km ride from Tirunelveli.

The area around Manjolai hills comprises tea plantation, Upper Kodayar Dam, a view point named Kuthiravetti. Manjolai itself has three tea estates. There are many small waterfalls amidst lush greenery all the way to the top. Manjolai has not been stepped by more humans, so you can find variety of birds and animals while trekking. Manjolai is also called the poor man's Ooty.
You need to get permission from Forest department to ride in private vehicles. Government Buses are also there to take you to hill top but check with the transport for timings. For trekkers Manjolai is a good spot for treckking with deep routed trees which are densily grown. After get digested from the beauty of Manjolai, one should definitely visit Manimuthar Falls and watch the entire scenery view using the view point mounted in Kuthiravetti.
People coming from Manimuthar should enquire about Dasan Pool and should make a halt to checkout the clean fresh water and the greenery. It is a lovely place to breathe in some chilled, fresh mountain air. Check out both the Manimuthar Dam and Papanasam Dam. Enjoy a boat ride at Vana Theertham.
Kalakad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve is a lovely place and will fascinate wildlife lovers. You may also be lucky to catch a glimpse of elephants, bears, bison, wild boar and Sambar deer. However, do remember that this is a reserved forest so you will need permission from the Forest Department.

Accommodation at Manjolai is taken care by Tamilnadu Forest Department in a place called Singampatty Zamin. Another guest house is at Kuthiravetti. The ideal place to stay is the Forest department guest house in Kuthiravetti, TNEB quarters in Kothaiyar and Police quarters in Manjolai Estate. But these places are to be booked in advance and it is extremely off to the tourists as these accommodations

Permission from the Forest Department is required for going to Manjolai estate and Kuthiravetti. This can be arranged with the State Tourist Department. There are monkeys at Manimuthar Falls and visitors have to be careful of their belongings. Plastic carry bags are frowned so better to carry food in packing containers. Its our nature we should only preserve it. To visit Kodayar Dam, permission has to be availed from the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board officials.
How to Reach
By Air: Nearest domestic airports are Thoothukudi and Madurai which a distance of 113 km and 239 km away from Manjolai Hills. Trivandrum(Kerala) is nearest International Airport which is 210 km away from here.
By Rail: Kallidaikurichi (43 km) and Veeravanallur (47 km) are the nearest railway stations. But Tirunelveli (77 km) is major Junction which is well connected with the major cities of Country.
By Road: Manjolai Hills is well connected by road from Thirunelveli, Manimutharu, Kallidaikurichi, Ambasamudram, Papanasam, Veeravanallur, Thirunelveli, Madurai and Thiruvananthapuram. Tirunelveli is located on the National Highway no. 7. It is well connected to all the major cities of Peninsular India by National as well as state highways. Thirunelveli is a two hours drive and 70 Kms away from Manjolai Estate. There are buses from Tirunelveli, Ambasamudram and Manimuthar. Local taxis are available and these operators will have the necessary passes and permits.
